이 말은 미우라 켄타로 작가의 만화 베르세르크에서 나온 대사다. 미우라 켄타로 작가는 도망친 곳에도 도망친 곳 나름의 고통이 있다는 의미로 이 말을 썼다.
이 말은 아무리 현실이 시궁창이라도 바닥에 눌러 붙어 바닥의 일부가 된 껌처럼 밟히면서도 그 자리를 지키란 말이 아니다.
사람들은 종종 이 말을 가스라이팅할 때 이용하지만 거기에 말려들어선 안 된다.
내가 하는 일이나 책임, 리스크에 비해 처우가 낮거나 그렇다고 미래가 밝은 것도 아니고 존중을 받는 것도 아니라면 떠나는게 맞다. 나이가 젊은 경우라면 더더욱.
