1. 숙종의 묫자리 설화
숙종은 미행 중에 우연히 장사 지내는 곳을 발견했다. 풍수에 관심이 있던 숙종은 장지의 묫자리를 살펴보았다.
장지의 묫자리는 매우 나쁜 곳이었다. 숙종은 상주에게 돈을 주고 다른 곳으로 묘지를 옮겨 쓰도록 지시했다.
묫자리를 잘 정해준 지관을 찾아 나선 숙종은 가난하게 살고 있는 지관을 만났다.
숙종은 지관에게 왜 장지에 못 쓰는 묫자리를 정했는지 질문했다. 지관은 그 묘지는 숙종이 오기 전에 돈이 생기고 더 좋은 묘터가 지시될 자리라고 말해주었다고 했다.
숙종은 지관이 능력이 있다는 것을 알면서도 왜 가난하게 살고 있는지 궁금해했다.
지관은 자신의 집터가 임금이 왕림할 어림지지(御臨之地)이기 때문에 가난하게 살고 있다고 대답했다.
숙종이 그 임금이 왕림할 날이 언제인지 묻자 지관은 날짜를 계산해보더니 바로 오늘이라며 대경실색을 하며 숙종에게 큰 절을 올렸다.
숙종이 이에 놀라며 내 죽은 뒤에 묻힐 자리를 잡아달라고 하니 그 자리가 경기도 고양시에 있는 명릉이다.
2. 다대포에 묻힌 박영효
철종의 사위이며 갑신정변의 주역인 박영효는 일제 강점기 중추원 고문과 귀족원 의원이었다. 사족이지만 박영효는 당시 미남으로 유명했다.
박영효는 풍수에 관심이 많아 당시 지관을 데리고 명당을 찾아나섰는데 그 자리가 부산 다대포다. 지금의 라파요양병원 자리다.
하지만 박영효의 손자는 사업이 잘 되지 않았고 1958년 묘터를 팔고 박영효의 시신은 화장된다.
3. 이병철 회장의 보은
삼성 이병철 전 회장은 6.25 전쟁 때 북한군이 서울을 점령하지 못할 것으로 봤다. 그러나 예상과는 달리 북한군은 서울을 점령했고 서울에서 공산군으로부터 숨어 지냈다.
그러나 그에게는 자금이 없었다.
이때 위대식이라는 사람이 목숨 걸고 삼성물산 창고에서 생필품을 빼내 암시장에서 판매하여 이병철 회장의 탈출 자금을 마련하여 이병철 회장에게 넘겨줬다.
이병철 회장은 이렇게 천신만고 끝에 인민재판을 당하지 않고 탈출할 수 있었다.
삼성이 대기업이 되어서도 이 은혜를 잊지않고 이병철 회장은 위대식을 운전기사로 채용하여 임원급으로 대우해준다.
이병철 회장은 풍수에 관심이 있어 여러 지관을 통해 자신이 묻힐 묘자리로 천하 명당을 얻었는데 그 무덤이 지금은 용인 에버랜드 안에 있다.
위대식은 이병철 보다 먼저 세상을 떠났다. 이 천하 명당의 한 자리를 이병철 회장은 위대식에게 줬다는 말이 있다.
1. The Legend of King Sukjong's Grave Site
King Sukjong accidentally discovered a burial site while on a secret trip. Being interested in feng shui, he examined the grave site and found it extremely inauspicious. He paid the gravedigger to relocate the grave elsewhere.
Sukjong then sought out the geomancer who selected the poor site. The geomancer explained that before the king's arrival, it was destined to bring fortune and a better grave site would be indicated.
Puzzled why the skilled geomancer lived in poverty, Sukjong was told it was because his home stood on the king's future dwelling place. Upon calculating the date, the geomancer realized it was that very day and kowtowed to the king.
Sukjong, surprised, requested the geomancer find his future burial site after death - the present-day Myeongneung in Goyang.
2. Park Young-hyo Buried in Dadaepo
Park Young-hyo, the son-in-law of King Cheoljong and a leader of the Gapsin Coup, was known as a heartthrob despite being from the nobility class. Interested in feng shui, he sought the best grave site with a geomancer and settled on Dadaepo in Busan, where Lapa Convalescent Hospital now stands.
However, his grandson's business struggled, and in 1958, they sold the grave site, and Park's remains were cremated.
3. Lee Byung-chull's Gratitude
During the Korean War, Samsung's founder Lee Byung-chull didn't expect North Korean forces to occupy Seoul. But contrary to his expectation, they did, forcing him into hiding without funds.
A man named Wee Dae-sik risked his life retrieving supplies from Samsung's warehouse, selling them in the black market to fund Lee's escape from a people's trial.
Though Samsung became a conglomerate, Lee never forgot Wee's kindness, hiring him as a chauffeur with executive-level treatment.
Interested in feng shui, Lee obtained an auspicious grave site through geomancers, currently located inside Everland Resort in Yongin.
When Wee passed before Lee, it's said Lee gave him a spot in this premium grave site as gratitude.
